Witch Hazel is an astringent meant to reduce the swelling of the inflamed hemorrhoid vessels. Horse Chestnut Leaf is meant to improve circulation and is often used for those suffering from varicose veins.

Ginger Root is believed to have anti-inflammatory properties which shrink the hemorrhoids by decreasing inflammation of the swollen vessels.

Hem-Relief Ingredients Profile

There are other ingredients listed on the label which are inactive ingredients listed on a separate section of the Hem-Relief Label, which include hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, and purified water.

Since the product is a 1650 mg proprietary blend of the three active ingredients we do not know how much of each is included in the formulation. In other words, we do not know whether there is more Horse Chestnut or Witch Hazel or Ginger in the formulation. 

One thing we do know, however, you will definitely be taking a lot of Hem-Relief pills. The recommended dosage is 3-4 capsules, not once, not twice, but three times daily.

What is Hem-Relief And What Does Hem-Relief Do For Hemorrhoids?

Hem-Relief is another herbal supplement aimed at helping those who suffer from hemorrhoids. In fact, the main claim on the Hem-Relief website: westernherbal is that “to help with both internal and external hemorrhoid flareups.”

Does it work? According to Amazon reviews, it currently has a rating of 3.3 stars, which is the lowest of all hemorrhoid supplements we have reviewed. Of all the Amazon reviews, more than a full third, 35% have rated the product at either a two star or one star. 

However, a majority or precisely 59% have rated Hem-Relief 911 as four or five stars. T

aking all this data into consideration, it is apparent that the majority of Amazon reviewers were satisfied, while a little more than a third have been dissatisfied with the results from the product.

Unfortunately, it does not appear that Hem-Relief can currently be purchased at CVS. We do not see that it is available at Target or Wal-Mart. However, it is found on Amazon and at Western Herbals website.

How long should I Use Hem-Relief 911

According to the Western Herbal website, the product should be used until symptoms are alleviated.

Hem-Relief Side Effects:

First, with respect to the ingredient Witch Hazel, this may cause constipation upset stomach and vomiting. Another ingredient in Hem-Relief, Horse Chestnut, may cause thinning of the blood and is generally not recommended to be taken prior to surgery.

It appears to be useful for a majority of Hemorrhoid Sufferers.  The price point is tied for the highest price point with Hemovir, both charging about 45$ per bottle on Amazon. Are there better options out there? We believe so.

Most of the other products that we reviewed had a greater total score of than Hem-Relief’s 3.3 Amazon Star Rating. In addition, we have reviewed multiple products with a better overall rating and at nearly half the price.
