Many people are hearing great things about coconut oil for scars.

Want to know how you can use Coconut Oil to say goodbye to your scars and stretch marks? Then you will want to read this article.

We will also discuss the best types of Coconut Oil and also the best methods to use.

Is Coconut Oil Good for Scars?

Do you have acne, atrophic, burn, chicken pox, surgical, or hypertrophic scars?

The type of scar you have will depend on your treatment.

Some scars are not so bad (when hidden away by clothes), while others can leave good sized pits or raised marks on your skin.

These are the types of scars we want to get rid of at all costs (enter coconut oil).

These types of scars are usually called atrophic scars and are one of the more common types of scars that are associated with acne.

However, many people use coconut oil for scars after surgery. Make sure you speak with your doctor when using coconut oil for surgical scars.

Atrophic scars happen when the underlying structures of the skin are affected.

When healing, if the body does not produce enough collagen, you'll wind up with pits or indentations. Sometimes these can be permanent

If the body produces too much collagen, you will wind up with a rough or a raised spot on the skin.

Inflammatory acne is what normally causes this type of scarring on the face and neck, especially if untreated.

While the majority of people get acne in one form or the other, certain people are more susceptible to the scarring.

This susceptibility can be genetic.

Unfortunately, We all know there's not a lot you can do about your genes.

There are some things that you can try though to get rid of your scars. One of the worst things to have is a prominent scar in a visible location. Acne scars are typically all over your face in patches.

Acne scarring is one of the most embarrassing types of scarring to live with.

Does Coconut Oil Help Acne Scars?

Lately, a lot of people have been talking about using coconut oil on scars, especially for those caused by acne.

Now you may be thinking, why would coconut oil help a scar?

Well, coconut oil is a natural oil that is full of fatty acids, proteins, and vitamin E. The fatty acids help keep the skin smooth by maintaining the moisture in it. Vitamin E and proteins help with cellular growth and repair of it.

Coconut oil can also help unclog open wounds and pores by drawing the toxins out of the skin.

This actually makes it a good choice for cleaning your skin if you're prone to acne.

The anti-Inflammatory properties of coconut oil also help to fade scars.

These facts are part of the reason why applying coconut oil to acne scars can help your skin.

That's why we use Coconut Oil in many of our products. Our very own organic body lotion contains coconut oil in it.

How to Use Coconut Oil for Acne Scars

Here how to use coconut oil for acne scars and scars in general:

  1. Make sure the skin is clean, dry, and bare
  2. Take about 1/4 teaspoon of coconut oil and rub it into the scars with your fingertips, allowing it to absorb
  3. Make sure to leave the coconut oil on overnight
  4. The next morning wash your face as usual

This won't be an overnight fix. We recommend trying this for at least a week unless your acne scar symptoms get worse or you develop an allergic reaction.

It is always a smart thing to test a small patch of skin when trying any new skin care product or remedy.

This process should help maximize the efficiency with the coconut oil.

Coconut oil will help reduce the appearance of your scars and is good for cleaning your skin.

When using coconut oil for facial scars be sure to test a small patch first.

Can I Use Coconut Oil for Old Scars?

Coconut oil will work for older scars but it can take some time. Make sure that you go into this with the right frame of mind.

Most people will start seeing progress in the first 5-7days with newer scars and stretch marks.

With old scars coconut oil can take months to see results. The key is consistent application.

Why Use Coconut Oil for Healing Scars?

There are many different reasons why coconut oil heals scars. Let's take a look at some of the advantages of using coconut oil.

Coconut oil contains a few kinds of saturated fats like medium chain fatty acids and triglycerides. It is these acids that help moisturize your skin.

They help to fight aging and scars as they work their way into the subcutaneous layers.

As a result, the skin will become suppler.

Capric, lauric or caprylic acid are also abundant in coconut oil.

These acids help fight off disease and infection in the body.

Another aspect of the coconut oil is that it also helps fight wrinkling and strengthens the connective tissues within the skin.

This will tend to prevent the skin from sagging.

Coconut Oil for Scars Reviews

Coconut oil is good for your skin, but it does have a few disadvantages. While it is clearing out the toxins that would normally cause acne, the pore will occasionally become clogged and can potentially cause a white head to appear.

Also, when the natural scent of the coconut oil mixes with the sweat coming out of your pores, it can potentially give off a unbearable odor.

Some people also don't like the fact that it leaves your skin with an oily feeling after application.

Having said that, if you can get past these few disadvantages, coconut oil is extremely good for your skin.

While coconut oil is a good natural oil and does tend to help your skin, there are few other options out there.

There are various creams on the market with proven results that you can try. There are also some procedures you can speak to your doctor about. All in all though, coconut oil can be considered a good first step for scars.
