Is Anacare a Natural Product?
Yes, Anacare is a product that has 99% natural ingredients in it, with the other 1% being from the preservatives Dehydroacetic Acid and Benzyl Alcohol.
However, we do also see that it has Titanium Dioxide in it. While not considered to be too unsafe, the EWG Skin Deep Cosmetic Database considers it a low health hazard and moderate link to cancer.
Dehydroacetic Acid is considered to be a low hazard by the EWG cosmetic database (1).
When used in small amounts it is probably safe but we recommend you do your own research prior to using.

So, we’ve talked about a couple ingredients that aren't great, but since Anacare has 99% natural ingredients it definitely has some good ones.
Obviously, Hamamelis Virginiana, or Witch Hazel as its known is an extremely popular ingredient for hemorrhoids.
Witch Hazel is in many OTC hemorrhoid wipes and hemorrhoid creams, as it works as an astringent that reduces hemorrhoids. As the hemorrhoid is reduced the symptoms begin to vanish as well, leaving you feeling much, much better.
What is our main concern with the Witch Hazel found in Anacare? Well, it doesn’t say exactly how much of the witch hazel is in it.
Cera Flava is another ingredient in Anacare that we really like. Cera Flava is actually just a fancy word for beeswax. When Beeswax is applied to the skin or hemorrhoid, it forms a protective barrier.
This barrier stops your hemorrhoid from becoming more irritated. Since the beeswax forms the protective barrier, it also locks in the ingredients that actually shrink the hemorrhoid (like Witch Hazel).
In LithuaniaCera Flava is very commonly used in ointments and creams for many skin ailments (2).
We really like the choice of Cera Flava in this formula.
The next ingredient found in Anacare is Melaleuca Alternifolia Oil, or Tea Tree Oil.
Tea Tree Oil is commonly used for many types of skin conditions. It has anti-septic and anti-bacterial properties that help it treat wounds (3).

Its also been used for skin tags and worts. It has a very pungent smell, but is an excellent choice for hemorrhoids when used in a natural formula in the right amounts.
Anacare should not be used for bleeding hemorrhoids.
Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract produces Calendula Oil. This oil is commonly used for damaged and dry skin.
It has wonderful moisturizing properties that allow it to work well on dry skin. It also helps reduce inflammation, and people have used it for bruising and stretch marks.

What Types of Hemorrhoids Does Anacare Work For?
Since Anacare is a cream, it will work for external hemorrhoids. An external thrombosed hemorrhoid will have a clot. If your symptoms do not get better over a few days, then we suggest you do not use Anacare and instead see a doctor.
You might try to use it on internal prolapsed hemorrhoids, but we would recommend you see a hemorrhoid doctor if you have one of those.
External thrombosed hemorrhoids and internal prolapsed hemorrhoids (Grade 3 and 4) may require hemorrhoid surgery.

While we like the ingredient list found in Anacare, we are unsure how much of each ingredient is in the formula.
The powerhouse ingredient in this formula is Witch Hazel, and since we have no idea how much Witch Hazel is in the formula, it’s hard for us to recommend it.
Plus, in looking at all the Anacare reviews online, we have found similar products in the marketplace that have better overall reviews, like Preparation H.
